Wildscape program, plant sale on horizon

Posted

The Native Plant Society of Texas, Cross Timbers Chapter, will meet for its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 23 at the Mount Pleasant School, 213 Raymond George Way in Weatherford.

The program, titled “Wilding” with Terri Walker, will feature Walker, a Cross Timbers Native Plant Society member and a Parker County Master Gardener. Walker is also a Natural Resources Conservation Services retiree and has years of experience in analyzing plant composition in Parker County and elsewhere. At the Native Plant Society meeting, Walker will discuss “wildscapes” — what they are, why they are needed and how to set one up.

The meeting will include light refreshments, and the public is welcome to attend.

The Cross Timbers Chapter will also host a Native Plant Sale May 4 at Heritage Park in Weatherford. The sale is expected to include everything from grasses to flowering perennials, shrubs and vines, all selected for the North Texas area. Chapter members will be on hand to offer advice and educational materials as well. The sale will be at First Monday Trade Days at Heritage Park, 318 Santa Fe Drive, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (or when all the plants are gone). Cash, check or credit cards are accepted.
