AZLE — For 15 years (13 as a city-run event and two as private), local bands and music fans have spent their summers rocking and grooving at Azle’s annual Music in the Park. After an initial performance by Poo Live Crew was canceled due to lightening May 3, Music in the Park began in earnest the evening of Friday, May 10. Starting at 8 p.m., Emerald City Presents Elevation played for Azle residents at the central park amphitheater for the first time. The band performed pop, party and dance hits through the decades while guests enjoyed meals and snacks from a number of food trucks. The performance concluded by 10 p.m.

“Friday's night performance was an awesome night full of great music with a very talented group of performers who brought a lot of energy to the show,” special events board member Martin Feminella said. “And the crowd really enjoyed it. (Elevation) kept the crowd for the most part until the end of the show, which in my opinion is a sign that they really liked the show. After 15 years you start to pay attention to a lot of details this being one of them.”

The next performance for Music in the Park is scheduled for May 17 when country top 40 artist Ariel Hutchins is set to perform at 8 p.m. To keep up with news on the ongoing concert series, follow the Facebook group “Music in the Park — Azle Texas — Thru the Years.” According to Feminella, the board is still working to try to reschedule “Azle’s favorite band” Poo Live Crew.
