AZLE — Four Azle High School seniors were recognized by the Rotary Club of Azle as Students of the Month for September for their academic and extracurricular accomplishments Sept. 5.

He is interested in attending the University of Texas Austin, Texas A&M University, the University of California San Diego or San Diego State University to study computer science and electrical engineering.

He is proud of being at the top of his class, for taking all college level courses and for accomplishments made in distance running. Huffaker considers his desire to overcome and understand obstacles to be his best quality. Huffaker considers himself hard working, dedicated and proud. He has competed at the Bell drone competition with the Azle drone team, is cross country captain and is a member of the National Honor Society. He has volunteered at the community food pantry, athletic events and at Liberty Elementary during a science fair.

Eyvindr Lefever:

Eyvindr Lefever is the son of Will Lefever and Embyr Lefever. He is ranked sixth in his class with a GPA of 104.18. He hopes to attend Texas Tech or the University of Texas at Arlington and study computer science and cybersecurity. Some academic accomplishments Lefever is proud of are his high Advanced Placement and OnRamps test scores. He said he is good at meeting deadlines and has never submitted an assignment late without an absence.

“I am especially good at always finding a way to figure something out. If I am confused about something, I will seek out an answer until I understand the concept,” Lefever said.

Lefever considers his trustworthiness to be his best quality, and he considers himself hard working, respectful and helpful.

He is a brass captain in the Marching Green Pride band and helps oversee the running of rehearsals for the low brass section and prop building. Lefever considers himself an avid amateur pickleballer. Under the supervision of Chad Cooke, he has been volunteering in the math department since August.

Brooklyn Young:

Brooklyn Young is the daughter of Chris and Kristy Young. After high school, she is interested in pursuing a career in graphic design. She is ranked fourth in her class with a GPA of 104.8.

Her academic strengths include being a fast learner and good information retention. Young considers herself smart, driven, hard-working and competitive.

“Although I work to be kind to others, I am often not very kind to myself,” Young said. “I am definitely my own biggest critic, and this sometimes affects my self-esteem. To combat this, I try to surround myself with supportive, loving people who are always there to reassure me, and more importantly I try to not search for my worth in worldly things like academics or sports. Instead, I strive to find my worth in my identity in Christ, because at the end of the day who He says I am is the truth, even when it's hard to believe it.”

Young enjoys being creative, painting and crocheting. She has played volleyball and played varsity basketball last season where she received the “3D Award.” She has also been in the NHS and PALS.

She is an active member of Merge Community Church, volunteers for Royal Family Kids Camp, and has worked at a family friend’s dance studio for several years.

Ella Freimuth:

Ella Freimuth is the daughter of Kirk and Donna Freimuth. She is interested in attending the University of Utah to study business management or finance. She hopes to one day work in the trucking and transportation field. She is ranked 10th in her class with a GPA of 103.05.

Freimuth considers herself good at time management, discipline, competence and self-awareness. She considers herself ambitious, curious and sociable. She hopes to travel the world and experience different cultures. She was a student council historian last year. She has earned Microsoft Word and Excel certifications and was given the AP Scholar award. She used to play volleyball, softball and soccer. She enjoys traveling, painting, drawing, reading, coloring, hiking and biking. She has goals of being a foreign exchange student in college and dreams of one day living in Europe. She has worked at Railhead Smokehouse Barbeque since April.
