October Azle area blood drives

Posted

AZLE — Next month the Azle Area Ministerial Alliance will be hosting a mobile blood drive through Carter Blood Care at First Methodist Church of Azle, 200 Church St. Through September and October donors through Carter Blood Care will receive Dallas Cowboys-inspired “how ‘bout them donors” merch including a t-shirt, “home turf blood donor” koozie and fridge magnet. Currently, Carter Blood Care has stable supplies of all blood types excluding B, which the organization reports to be in urgent need of. The blood drive will be held on Oct. 7 from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Even when local blood supplies may be stable, America’s Blood Centers say that it is still important to donate in order to take potential strain off of other locales that may be struggling. According to their website, across 59 community blood centers in the nation 20% have a critically low supply of blood and 46% are running low.

The Azle Lions Club will be hosting their own blood drive through the American Red Cross on Friday, Oct. 11 from 1 – 6 p.m. at 412 Commerce St. American Red Cross blood donors will receive a $10 Amazon gift card by email and will automatically be entered for a chance to win one of three $5,000 gift cards.

The City of Springtown will be holding their own blood drive through Carter Blood Care Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

For faster donations and less paperwork, donors-to-be can sign up on Carter BloodCare’s Donor Portal, by going to ww3.greatpartners.org. Click “Donate Now,” type “Azle” into the page’s city search and schedule an appointment at an available mobile drive location. Readers can also schedule by following the link https://ww3.greatpartners.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/145185. More details can be found on the nonprofit blood center’s website at CarterBloodCare.org.
