WEATHERFORD — The Parker County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division and the Texas Rangers are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating two individuals in connection with a suspicious package left on the steps of the Parker County District Courts Building early Tuesday, April 9.

Parker County Sheriff Russ Authier said the investigation is currently ongoing with investigators searching for two individuals captured on video surveillance at about 4:45 a.m. Both subjects were seen in a white, possibly, late model SUV with no license plate driving around the area after leaving the District Courts Building at 117 Fort Worth Highway. The male subject captured on video leaving the suspicious package on the steps was tall and wearing a white T-shirt, dark running shorts, a dark-colored ski mask covering his face, mismatched socks, running shoes and an armband/patch on his right forearm. The object in question was a black hard-sided plastic "pelican" type case with two white painted X's sprayed on one side. The case was padlocked and had an apparent antenna-type object sticking out of one side.

An earlier press release from Parker County Sheriff's Office stated the container and its contents were not found to be harmful.

Authier said the incident caused the closure and evacuation of businesses surrounding the District Courts Building and required hundreds of law enforcement workhours. Authier said he would like to thank the Texas Department of Public Safety, Highway Patrol and Texas Rangers Divisions, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, FBI, Fort Worth Bomb Squad, local fire departments and the Weatherford Police Department for their assistance and resources during the initial response and continued investigation.

Anyone with information leading to the identity and location of the individuals involved is urged to contact the Parker County Sheriff’s Office immediately at 817-594-8845.
