Raymond Smith
1938-2024
Raymond William Smith, 85, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024, in Springtown, surrounded by his family. Funeral services were held Monday, March 18 at 1 p.m. in Alexander’s Midway Funeral Home’s Chapel and burial immediately followed at Springtown Cemetery.
Raymond was born Oct. 31, 1938, in Fort Worth to Leonard Lee Smith and Emma Tabitha (Bell) Smith Travis.
He was raised in Fort Worth and later served in the Army National Guard from 1955 to 1960.
Raymond married the love of his life, Wilma (Kennedy) Smith in 1956. They moved to Springtown in 1965 where they raised their four girls. He was a truck driver for over 41 years, retiring from Grief Brothers Trucking, and was a member of Legacy Church for many years.
Raymond enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Glin Smith and Grady Smith; sisters, Lillie Rivers and Lena May Smith; daughters, Cynthia Harnsberger and Trina Gray; and grandson, Chase Gray.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Wilma Smith; brother, Calvin Smith and wife, Ann; sister, Doris Veneen and husband, Charlie; daughters, Kay Wilson and husband, Kenny, Melinda Black and husband, Rodney; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Raymond was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
