Mollie Marie White 1944-2024

Mollie Marie (Whitaker) White, 79, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024, in Haslet.

Visitation is from 6-8 p.m., Friday, June 28, at White’s Funeral Home, Springtown.

Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 29, White’s Funeral Home, Springtown.

Interment will be at Azleland Memorial Park.

Mollie was born Nov. 8, 1944, in Wichita Falls, the daughter of John and Mary (Horky) Whitaker.

She met the love of her life, Robert Melvin White, and they were married June 7, 1966. They would go on to spend 32 happy years together until his passing in 1998.

The Whites moved to Azle in 1975, and from there they settled in Springtown in 1989, where Mollie remained for 34 years. She was a very active part of the community, serving with the city parks and working various elections.

Mollie graduated from Midwestern University in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in English and went on to earn a master’s degree in education from the University of North Texas in 1988. She spent her life devoted to the education of young people. She worked for 25 years as a teacher at the Springtown Independent School District.

Mollie loved to travel, and in 2004, following her retirement, she traveled to several countries. She spent much of her spare time reading, making cross-stitch, embroidering and crocheting. She made many blankets for newborns in hospitals

She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Weatherford.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Melvin White; and one granddaughter, Naya White.

Survivors include her children, Natalie White Yancey (Kendall), Laura Michele White (Chris Amond); and her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Allyson Corinne Amond and Patrick Christopher Amond.
