LAKE WORTH — On Aug. 19, the Lake Worth Independent School District board of trustees recognized and thanked eight teachers who received the Teacher Incentive Allotment. Six of the recipients work at Effie Morris Early Learning Academy, including Mia West, Rebekah May, Cindy Duncan, Ava Castillo-Cantu, Karey Bennett and Kinsey Teague.

Kathryn Fairman, who works at Marine Creek Leadership Academy, and Mindy Massey, who works at Howry STEAM Academy, round out the eight recipients.

Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Jeff Seeton said Lake Worth ISD is proud of the teachers and is honored to have them as part of the Bullfrog family.

“Our district is incredibly proud of the dedicated teachers who were recognized at the August board meeting with the Teacher Incentive Allotment,” Seeton said. “Their commitment to excellence in education directly results in meaningful growth for our students and their impact on our students' lives is truly commendable. This recognition is a testament to their hard work and passion for teaching and we are honored to have them as part of our Lake Worth ISD Bullfrog family.”

The Teacher Incentive Allotment is a program built to reward teachers in Texas for their effectiveness in the classroom.

The goal is to also recruit and retain effective teachers by providing additional funds to a teacher's salary based on their performance as a teacher. This initiative was created by the Texas Legislature in 2019.

To receive Teacher Incentive Allotment, a teacher must be designated to be recognized by the Texas Education Agency. Once they are designated, they can receive an annual allotment for their school district based on where the teacher works if they meet eligibility requirements by TEA.
