John "Larry" Boswell

1942-2024

John Larry Boswell of Azle passed from this life to be with Jesus May 12, 2024, after years of complications from Alzheimer's disease.

Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 25 at The Edge Church, 1313 Southeast Parkway in Azle to celebrate his life.

Larry was born August 16, 1942, son of John and Lois Boswell. He was born and raised on the Northside of Fort Worth and graduated from Northside High School in 1960. Larry was united in marriage to Mary Schlange Oct. 6, 1977.

Larry loved hunting, being on Eagle Mountain Lake on his boat, riding Harley's, cruising the backroads in Nebraska, and playing jokes on people. He had a larger-than-life personality which had a huge impact on his friends and his son's friends as well. He also enjoyed attending church at The Edge Church in Azle. Larry loved Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan music.

Larry was a commissioned law enforcement officer and worked on what was known as the ODALE Task Force, which predates the DEA.

Larry and Mary owned and operated a successful private investigations company for 40 years. During his years in private practice, he worked on the Cullen Davis defense team, which helped put the business on the map. Larry was known to the law enforcement community and helped with several cases with various government agencies.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Jeanie Lambert and Jennifer Boswell; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Schlange and Jack Betts; and sister-in-law, Elaine Schlange.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife of 46 years, Mary, of Azle; children, John Boswell of Azle and Beth Finch (Randy) of Springtown; grandchildren, Jaxon and Westyn Boswell, Weldon Cressell and Stirling Finch; sister-in-law, Rosie Betts (Dave Ruenholl); brother-in-law, Ken Schlange (Pam Conn) both of Auburn, Nebraska; great-granddaughter, Braelyn Cressel; several nieces and nephews, and many relatives and friends.
