Freda Riggs Nabers, 85, passed peacefully from this life April 25, 2024. She was born Dec. 6, 1938, in Gorman, to A.F. and Elva Lewis. Freda married James Riggs Dec. 24, 1955, in Desdemona and they were married 61 years before his death in 2017. Freda then married her high school sweetheart, Leroy Nabers, Oct. 13, 2019, in Springtown, at GracePointe Church where they were both members.

Freda worked in the banking industry for 40 years, retiring from Farmers and Merchants Bank of De Leon in 2013. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved to cook for her family. She was famous for her homemade dinner and cinnamon rolls. Freda also loved gardening and tending her cattle. She had a special love for chickens and her white doves.

Freda was preceded in death by two of her children, son Michael Riggs. and daughter Sherry Riggs Bibby.

Freda is survived by her husband Leroy Nabers; son Stephen Riggs and wife Bethp; stepchildren; Debbie Whiteman and husband Pat, Kathy Lunsford and husband Keith and Jim Nabers and wife Denise. She has many grandchildren, step-grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends who will miss her greatly.

A graveside service was held at Howard Cemetery near Desdemona Thursday, May 2, and officiated by Bro. Tim McKeown and Bro. Ben McCleery.
