Charles Donnell

1937-2024

A memorial service for Charles Lamar Donnell will be Saturday, March 16, at noon, at Crossroads Baptist Church, 6003 FM 1886 in Azle.

Charles was born May 9, 1937, in Graham, to William E. and Kate Spann Donnell. He departed this life March 6, 2024, at his home in Parker County.

He graduated from Azle High School in 1955. He was a longtime member of Crossroads Baptist Church and a lifetime member of Parker County Sportsman Club. He enjoyed Christian fellowship, woodworking, and trading at flea markets. Nothing made him happier than finding a good bargain.

Charles began his working career at Fort Worth National Bank in the late 1950s. He later moved on to work for Sears, Roebuck & Co. as a tool salesman where he met his wife, Barbara Clower. They were married in 1971. Charles later went to work for Stevenson Service Company. He never completely retired as he continued reinventing himself as a wooden toy maker and the person who fixed whatever needed fixing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara; his sisters Katherine Webb, Geraldine Raper, Pauline Owens and Naomi Hearell Stewart.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: Scott and Robin Donnell and Ryan and Amelia Donnell; his step-grandchildren: Wesley Frasier, Lara Maalouli and Ashton Jo Self; his brother, Tom Donnell (Regina); his sisters, Marian Vandergriff and Jane Stevenson (Gene); several nieces and nephews; and many friends. He will be remembered as a good Christian man and a valued family member.
