Azle Optimists celebrate students

Posted

The Optimist Club of Azle recognized Azle High School senior Anna Preston as Young Tex-Anne of the month at its Sept. 15 meeting. Dakota Brewton was named the Young Texan for the month of September but was unable to attend. He will be recognized at a future meeting of the club.

Preston is ranked number two in the senior class. She is interested in pursuing a business and finance degree at Stephen F. Austin State University, but is also considering Texas A&M University, University of Texas Austin, and Texas Tech University. Preston hopes to one day become a chief financial officer.

One of her greatest academic strengths is her ability to be autonomous, needing little direction from her parents to stay on top of her schoolwork, Preston says.

She has been a member of National Honor Society, Interact, Student Council, and the Environmental Club, and was chosen to participate in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp.
