AZLE — Just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, police were called to the Azle Junior High campus after students reported hearing what they thought were gunshots near the school.
According to a district-wide “Hornet Alert” sent out to parents, the campus was placed on lockdown while police searched and cleared the building. Police believe the sounds heard were construction related, with some parents purporting that a nail gun was the source of confusion. Administrators believe there is no threat to students at this time.
The district will disclose more information as it becomes available.
