Azle hosts X-Treme Green clean-up day Sept. 14

Posted

AZLE — Azle residents will have the perfect opportunity to take out the trash after enjoying a day at the Sting Fling Festival. The City of Azle will host the second part of its biannual X-Treme Green Event Sept. 14. From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Azle residents can bring approved items for no-cost disposal at the city garage located at 470 Denver Trail.

DO BRING

  • Household hazardous waste (paint, pesticides, fertilizers, motor oil, antifreeze, gasoline, batteries)
  • Documents for on-site shredding (confidential documents, bank statements, old bills)
  • Automotive tires (standard passenger, SUV, lawn mower, tractor, 4-wheeler)
  • Household metal goods (water heaters, washers/dryers, refrigerators, freezers, small metal scraps)
  • E-waste (computers, cathode-ray tube monitors, plasma and LCD televisions, printers, scanners, copiers, radios, CD players, VCRs, telephones)

The event is a partnership between the City of Azle and Community Waste Disposal. The X-Treme Green Events fill a niche that is sorely lacking in many residential waste and recycling removal programs, CWD said on its website. CWD manages these events and customizes each according to the needs of the city.

The City of Azle asks that residents presort their items before arriving to not create backup and congestion. This event is intended for Azle residents only and participants should be prepared to present a City of Azle water bill including a charge for garbage services and their driver’s license as proof of residence. The city or contractors may reject certain items or charge special handling fees if delivering from a business or if instances where any one material exceeds 500 pounds, one cubic yard or if multiple items have an accumulated volume exceeding four cubic yards.

DO NOT BRING

  • Ammunition
  • Asbestos
  • Building materials
  • Butane cylinders
  • Explosives
  • Medical waste
  • PCBs
  • Propane cylinders
  • Radioactive material
  • Smoke detectors
  • Any one material where the accumulated weight exceeds 500 pounds
  • Any one material where the accumulated volumes exceed 1 cubic yard
