Certain 2024 Parker County property tax statements delayed

Posted

Most property tax statements are coming soon to taxpayers in Parker County. However, the Parker County Appraisal District is delaying the mailing of around 4,700 property tax statements to certain taxpayers this year. Properties that are in a district that adopted a tax rate which requires voter-approval will be delayed until after the results of the Nov. 5 election.

After Nov.5, PCAD will wait to receive the voter-approved tax rate then quickly calculate, print and mail the delayed tax statements. Should these tax statements be mailed before the election, they would reflect a tax rate not yet approved by voters. Payment of property taxes based upon an unapproved tax rate could result in overpayments, refunds or a subsequent tax bill. However, delaying the mailing of the tax statements to those that are subject to voter-approval avoids all the confusion and allows PCAD to mail one correct tax bill. This delay will not impact payment options, delinquency dates, penalties, or interest for taxpayers. Property taxes for 2024 will still be due upon receipt and will not be considered delinquent if paid by Jan. 31.

Taxes must be paid in U.S. currency by cash, check, money order, or credit or debit cards. Taxpayers can pay by phone by calling 866-549-1010 or online at www.parkercad.org by eCheck for free, debit card for a $2.95 flat processing fee, or credit card for a 2.15% processing fee. The fees are added by the processing company and are not charged by PCAD. Taxpayers can pay by mail or in-person at the PCAD office located at 1108 Santa Fe Drive, Weatherford, TX 76086. For convenience, there is also a drive-thru and an after-hours drop box located in the front-door vestibule and drive-thru of the building.

As a reminder, if your property has a mortgage with an escrow account, the requesting mortgage company will be mailed a duplicate tax statement with the amount due on your account. You can obtain tax statements and receipts online at www.parkercad.org.
