AZLE — Throughout the week, Azle’s library celebrated the 15th anniversary of its current building, opened March 30, 2009. The name “Azle Memorial Library” was chosen to memorialize the donors who made the library’s construction possible. The library promoted the anniversary with a week of scavenger hunts and prizes. On Saturday, March 23 the library gave out free gifts and goodies to mark the occasion and hosted announcements from Mayor Pro Tem Randa Goode and Library Director Curren McLane. The library also held several craft activities and a community meal. The 11 staff members mingled with city officials, past staff and community members during the celebration. McLane detailed the history of libraries in Azle and commemorated the 2.8 million items checked out in its 1.5 million visits from community members in the last 15 years.

“We want to be here for this community,” McLane said. “This is your library. Thank you so much for coming here, letting us know what you need, and we hope to provide those needs long into the future.”
