FeedLot fun with new coordinator

Posted

AZLE — Last month, the city’s food truck park at 225 Church St.— The FeedLot — began operating under new management after the hiring of special events coordinator Amanda Scott. Previously, city community and marketing specialist Kristin Pegues managed the day-to-day operations of the park along with her other duties. Pegues was elated to hand over the reins. The city  is also excited to introduce more activities and events for visitors to enjoy with Scott now solely dedicated to organizing and promoting the food truck and farmers market venue.

“My background in event coordination started in 1997 in the travel industry,” Scott said in an email to the Tri-County Reporter. “My passion for working/hosting events has only grown. I love working in the unpredictable nature of events and all the challenges it brings. Being creative and bringing a unique vision to each event is what I enjoy the most besides networking and constantly meeting new people, I love people.”

Recent and upcoming activities organized by Scott include an “Art at the Lot” event where instructor Yesenia Massarella taught attendees to paint American flags onto canvas July 5. Each first and third Saturday, the community now also has a chance to stretch to their limits with 911 Fitness’ free community yoga lessons. Shelbi Vaughan-Walley, Corey Montgomery and Monty Meditation served as instructors in conjunction with the farmers market.

On July 19, from 7-9 p.m. The FeedLot will host a 1980s themed dance party with DJ Kip Kruger. On July 20, Vaughan-Walley and 911 Fitness will sponsor a free dance cardio class starting at 8:30 a.m.

"It’s like a nonstop celebration of community,” Scott said. “Every day on the job brings something different, planning diverse events, meeting incredible people and I am focusing on creating a lively, welcoming atmosphere that the community can come, have a great time and eat some amazing food … The rest of July and August are fun, filled with events and entertainment. I am hoping to reach more people to come out to The FeedLot and to attract even more food trucks that would like to come to Azle. Everyone that I have met from the community to the food truck operators have been incredible, and we all share the same goal, to grow The Feedlot!”
