The Marching Green Pride lived up to its name at the Bands of America Super Regional Championship.

The contest featured 72 of the best marching band programs from this part of the country at a two-day event on Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Azle’s band received a first-class rating and placed sixth in its class and 32nd overall. The band’s previous highest finish at the super regional contest was 50th place.

Before departing for San Antonio, band Director Aaron Martin described the super regional as the “hardest show in the country” and predicted the Marching Green Pride would perform well.

“We want to go and have a good showing and have the kids feel good about what they have done,” he said.
