AZLE — Theater appreciators had a witching good time with the most recent Azle Arts Association performance. “Two Witches, No Waiting” finished its two-week run at Popcorn Players Theater on Sunday, Sept. 29.
Directed by Carol Braden and written by Pat Cook, the show featured a more, at-times, subtle approach to Popcorn Players typical no holds barred humor and slapstick while still managing to elicit a cacophony of cackling from the crowd. In act one, Canton Brenneman and other actors were able to stir up a genuine tingle of unease and uncertainty, making the show a great spooky opener to the Halloween season.
The theater’s stage was transformed into the interior of Coventry House, the ancient abode of Flat Rock, Texas’ local sorceress sisters at large. With more costume changes than you can shake a broomstick at, an enchanting set design, and twists that no one could see coming, Azle Arts again delivered on a great show for audiences to enjoy.
