Lady Hornets advance with pair of no-hitters

In a fashion about as dominant as one could imagine, the Azle Lady Hornets' softball  team will be moving on to the second round of the Class 5A playoffs, defeating Fort Worth Arlington Heights 9-0 and 11-0 at Chisholm Trail High School on Thursday, April 25.

In the opening game, Adrianna Wiedman pitched a no-hitter, while Corynne Barone duplicated the accomplishment in Game 2. Wiedman struck out 13 batters and walked 2, and Barone fanned 11 with a pair of walks.

The Lady Hornets (21-11-1), runners-up in District 5-5A, will next play District 8-5A champion Burleson Centennial or Richland, fourth in 7-5A, May 2-4.
