SPRINGTOWN — Springtown Cub Scouts Pack 303 is hosting a different version of one of its most classic events to attract new scouts to the pack.
Pack 303 is hosting a recruitment Pinewood Derby at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Springtown First United Methodist Church (at the corner of Main Street and Third Street) called “Run whatcha Brung.”
The Pinewood Derby is an annual event in which scouts craft miniature cars to race against their peers. Scouts returning to Pack 303 can bring any car they have made in the past to qualify for the recruitment derby. New recruits who don’t have a derby car will be able to build one to race. Ashleigh Ward, a leader in the pack, said the event is meant “to show (recruits) how exciting Scouts truly is.”
