The league schedule will have almost an entirely new look for the Springtown football team come the fall, thanks to the University Interscholastic League’s biennial realignment announced Thursday, Feb. 1.
The Porcupines and Lady Pines are still in Class 4A in all sports, with the football team competing at the Division I level. In football, they are moving to District 5-4A Division I, with the only returning league opponent being Decatur.
Also in the new district will be Fort Worth Carter Riverside, Fort Worth Eastern Hills, Fort Worth Southwest, Fort Worth Western Hills and Diamond Hill-Jarvis.
In basketball and volleyball, Springtown will compete in District 7-4A with familiar opponents Bridgeport, Decatur, Krum, Lake Worth and Castleberry rejoining them. New to the district will be Burkburnett and the new Eagle Mountain High School.
The alignment for other sports will be released at a later date.

AZLE
The Hornets and Lady Hornets will remain in Class 5A for at least the next couple of years. In football, the Hornets will compete in 3-5A Division I with returning district mates Aledo, the two-time defending state champions, perennial power Denton Ryan, Granbury and Brewer. New to the league will be Denton, Keller Fossil Ridge, Birdville and Richland.
In other sports, Azle teams will be in 5-5A with Aledo, Granbury, Saginaw and Brewer remaining in the same district, while Chisholm Trail and Fossil Ridge come onboard.
All alignment changes for the next two years will take effect in the fall.
