AZLE — Hoover Elementary sixth grader Alyssa Flores made strides at the Tarrant County Junior Livestock Show for the second year in a row. This is Flores’ second year competing and representing Azle 4H at TCJLS. Last year she won Reserve Champion Fancy Poultry and Breed Grand Champion. This year she won a first-place belt buckle for Junior Fancy Poultry Showmanship and second place Breed Reserve Champion with her Black Wyandotte Rooster, Venus.

Flores said her success comes from her dedication and patience caring for and raising her chickens.

“Alyssa is very proud of all her hard work and her achievements,” her mother Amelia Flores said. “Her favorite part of the competition is meeting other competitors and their fancy poultry. And she’s looking forward to competing in next year’s TCJLS.
