SPRINGTOWN — On Thursday, Feb. 27, Officer Shane Brown received his corporal pin during a pinning ceremony during the Springtown city council meeting. Brown is Springtown High School’s resource officer and was recently promoted from the rank of officer to that of corporal. Brown has been employed with the Springtown Police Department since 2019.

Deputy Chief of Police Jamie Oliver spoke a few words before Brown received his pin.

“It's been a long time coming,” Oliver said. “He’s done a great job. Over the summer, he helped patrol this area. He’ll help you with whatever you need. I’m very excited, I’ve been waiting for this to happen.”

Brown was pinned by his fiancé Kelly Sabin.

To become a police corporal, usually officers need to have a certain amount of experience as a full-time police officer and demonstrate leadership skills. They also complete additional training and pass written exams.
