Second annual Lincoln the Brave car show draws loud crowds and classic cars

SPRINGTOWN — Lincoln the Brave and the Silver Dollar Classics Car Club drew Springtown citizens to step back in time at the second annual car show.

With more than 100 classic cars on display, the fundraising event is put together in support of children with cancer. The Lincoln the Brave foundation is a nonprofit which supports families who have children with cancer.

The event was held at Hilltop Family Church in Springtown. Silver Dollar Classics Car Club President Gary Demming says the event makes the club feel proud to be supporting a good cause.

“It makes it all feel great,” Demming said. “We are so proud of it. Lots and lots of work for a very good cause.”

Vehicles from the 1920s through the 1990s were on full display to be judged for the class awards. One of the cars on display was a 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 owned by Will Cicalla. Cicalla won the ‘60s class award for his 67’ Chevelle. Cicalla has had the car for eight years and has wanted it since his childhood.

“This was something I wanted as a child,” Cicalla said. “I had an opportunity to buy this almost eight years ago and it’ll be one that I never get rid of.”

Cicalla also said he only comes to car shows that are a fundraising opportunity and loves to see others’ vintage cars.

“It’s the only car shows I go to, anything for the kids,” Cicalla said. “This is what we live for. You know, sharing the stories, how they got there and where they’re going, hearing things like that just resonate with the American dream.”

The car show also honored Jonas Badillo who tragically passed away of cancer. Badillo’s mother, Jessica Gutierrez, said it was an honor for everyone to come out and support this cause.

“It's an honor that people would come together to support a cause like this,” Gutierrez said. “And it just feels good to know that people come out to support and it gets us all together.”
