AZLE — It’s time to get those dancing shoes out and get ready for Azle’s Night to Shine. Azle’s third annual special needs prom will take place at the Church at Azle, 1801 S. Stewart St. in Azle, Feb. 7.
Night to Shine is a decade-old annual event created by the Tim Tebow Foundation. The event is designed for those who have handicaps and disabilities to feel like they are the toast of the town. Night to Shine consists of a red carpet, a line of paparazzi and adoring fans. Attendees will arrive by limousine to a cheering crowd and are ushered into a dance hall as guests of honor for a special prom night celebration.
Other festivities await attendees. “Shine Shops” including glam hair, make-up shops, Cowtown Bling, shoeshine shops and a flower table for selecting corsages and boutonnieres, will be open next door at the Servolution Dream Center to give attendees a chance to feel their most beautiful on their special night. Prom-goers will be paired up one-to-one with a buddy who will ensure all their needs are met and they have a great experience. Dinner, dancing, photos and a special message from Tim Tebow will follow.
This is the third year Night to Share will be held in Azle in a collaboration with The Edge Church, The Church at Azle and others.
Along with a prom at the Church at Azle, Azle Christian School will hold a parents’ dinner and respite. The event is open to all special needs individuals aged 14 and up. Guests, volunteers, donors and sponsors can register to volunteer or learn more at “Night to Shine Azle” on Facebook or azlenighttoshine.godaddysites.com.
