LAKE WORTH — Legacy Oaks of Azle is teaming up with the Lake Worth Senior Center this Friday, Jan. 24 to host a hands-on healthy cooking event that is aimed at promoting wellness and good nutrition for seniors in the Azle and Lake Worth area. The event will be about combining culinary education with fun plus offering an interactive way for seniors to learn new cooking skills and making healthier choices.
Legacy Oaks of Azle Community Relations Director Kelly Case said the idea for the event came about from a shared desire to support the senior population by encouraging healthier eating habits.
“The idea stemmed from a desire to promote wellness among seniors by combining education with hands-on cooking fun,” Case said. “We wanted to encourage healthy eating habits while creating a fun, social experience for seniors in our local communities.”
The collaboration with the Lake Worth Senior Center has been a natural progression, as both organizations share a commitment to supporting seniors.
“We've built a great relationship over time through shared goals in supporting seniors, so teaming up for this event felt natural,” Case said. “Working together helps us better serve seniors by offering meaningful activities and events.”
Participants in the event will have the opportunity to learn practical cooking tips and explore new recipe ideas that can be easily replicated at home. In addition, the event encourages social interaction among seniors, fostering a sense of community.
“We hope they gain confidence in the kitchen, new recipe ideas and a greater sense of community,” Case said. “Good nutrition is essential for maintaining health and independence and this event empowers seniors to make better food choices.”
Legacy Oaks has hosted similar wellness events in the past and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Seniors have appreciated the opportunity to connect with others, learn new things and have fun in a supportive environment.
