SPRINGTOWN — The city of Springtown has two city council seats up for election this May in addition to the mayoral office.
Council member Michele Kelley has filed to defend her spot in Place 2 where she is unopposed. Kelley has served on the council since 2017 when she was appointed to fill a vacancy. She won re-election in 2018 and ran unopposed in 2019, 2021 and 2023 and now in 2025.
But a former council member has emerged to gain a seat at the council table once again.
Since current council member Richelle Pruitt is running for mayor, Walter Roberson is running for Pruitt’s seat, Place 4; he is also running without opposition.
Roberson previously held Place 3 but was unseated in 2024 by David Martin. Roberson retired from Atmos Energy where he worked for 45 years. He is an honors graduate from Jackson State University with a degree in speech communication. He graduated in 1974 from Texas Christian University with a master’s degree in speech communication. Roberson married his college sweetheart, Francine, and they have been married for 47 years. They have lived in Springtown for 30 years.
