LAKE WORTH — On Friday, Sept. 6, Effie Morris Early Learning Center hosted a ‘Pastries with Grandparents’ event for grandparents to come and spend time with their grandchildren, while eating delicious donuts.
District Communications Coordinator Noah Ceballos said its wonderful to see students ans their grandparents come together and make these memories.
“Our Grandparents Day event is a wonderful way to celebrate the love and wisdom that grandparents bring to our students' lives," Ceballos said. "It’s wonderful to see our students and their grandparents come together and create these special memories together.”
The event was from 7 to 8 a.m. and was held in the Effie Morris cafeteria with glazed donuts served up to students and their families.
Effie Morris Principal Robbin Church said it is so heartwarming to see families come together.
”Grandparents’ Day is always a well-attended event at Effie," Church said. "It’s heartwarming to see multiple generations coming together to love on our students.”
Students came in with their grandparents and some had parents in tow as well. Grandparents and students checked in before entering cafeteria, slowly forming a line leading all the way outside due to the number of people who showed up.
Effie Morris Principal Robbin Church was at the front desk helping teachers and aids check people in to the event. A teacher remarked that so many people showed up, they were worried about seating.
Once everyone was inside the cafeteria, students and family formed an assembly line to get the glazed donuts and whatever refreshments they preferred. In the back of the cafeteria, the sign was still hung that said, ‘welcome back to school.’
One parent remarked that their child’s great-grandparents were luckily able to come to the event.
