AZLE — The Sacred Arts Association of Fort Worth will exhibit its art at the Eagle Mountain Plaza, 300 E. Main St. in Azle from November through December. The exhibit features various art forms including landscapes, portraits and woodworking from local artists like Julie Clark of Azle and Carol Yankus of Springtown. The art will be on display and for sale in the building’s lobby for two months.
Both organizations are faith-based nonprofits, with proceeds supporting their respective activities. The partnership with the Sacred Arts Association began through mutual connection with Sacred Fine Arts founder Vonnie Kohn and plaza employee Edie Stelter. Kohn has displayed art at the plaza before and currently has several of her own works displayed around the building.
“It's very rewarding. And not only that, but it rewards people in the community that come in here,” Kohn said.
The public got to mingle with the art creators at a Nov. 9 event. Participants looked at art, painted Christmas ornaments, which were later donated to The Faith Shoppe, and enjoyed a chili lunch.
“I'm amazed at all the different kind of artists there are (in Azle) whether it be theater, writing, you know,” gospel entertainer and Faith Shoppe owner John Webster said. “Some people have written books and various different things and then we have singing and instruments, and then we have theater, a lot of theater. So, Azle's really a neat, neat place to be living in a community that has so much to offer … It’s going to be a wonderful time to host the Sacred Arts Association of Fort Worth here in Azle at the Eagle Mountain Plaza showroom. We have a lot of different artists that do the most amazing and inspirational and beautiful art you have ever seen.”
The plaza also hosts live streams of musical performances each week, Friday 11 a.m.–1 p.m., and has nearly 8,000 subscribers on YouTube. EMP plans to hold an event with Santa Claus Dec 14. For Christmas, musical act Don and John Webster plans to take 50 Azle area seniors on a trip to Branson, Missouri. In January, Texas Country Gospel Hall of Fame honoree Mary Fay Jackson will kick off a concert series.
