Angels come to Azle

Posted

AZLE — Christmas angels are beginning to appear in businesses throughout Azle. Even before bellies have been filled on Thanksgiving, local churches, the Azle Lions Club and other organizations are preparing to make Christmas wishes come true with their annual angel tree drives. Interested parties can pick out angel cards from each tree detailing specific gifts from wish lists of local kids in need. The Azle Lions Club has posted three trees: one at Reeves Hardware, one at Comet Cleaners and the third at the Azle Memorial Library.

In choosing recipients for Azle Lions Club angel trees, Azle ISD counselors, nurses and social workers determine students’ eligibility based on personal and family circumstances. Children enrolled in the federal Head Start program are automatically eligible. The younger siblings of eligible children can also be included on the applications. Gifts must be turned in at each respective tree by Dec. 6.

Additional trees and angels can be found throughout town. One angel tree, provided by First Baptist Church Castle Hills, is located in the Tri-County Reporter news office at 321 W. Main St.
