AZLE — Azle High School senior Katalina Brunetti was recognized at the October Azle ISD board of trustees meeting as a 2025 National Merit Scholar semifinalist. Brunetti was recognized along with 16,000 semifinalists nationwide in the 70th annual iteration of the contest. The student was entered into the semifinals after scoring a 1510 out of a possible 1600 on her Scholastic Aptitude Test. She plans to take the test again in two weeks and hopes to score even higher. Over 1.3 million high school juniors in about 21,000 high schools were entered after making high scores on their PSATs.
Merit Scholar designees are selected on the basis of their skills, accomplishments and potential for success and rigorous college studies. National Merit Scholarship finalists will be notified in February and awardees for 2025 will be announced with nationwide news releases beginning in April and ending in July. Nearly $26 million will be offered to students at contest’s conclusion.
